Jazzed up Business Casual
Any single breasted 2 or 3 button notched lapel striped, solid, glen plaid, Donegal or Prince of Wales check etc. with a French cuffed button down dress shirt and no tie will work well for "jazzed" up business casual, finding a French cuffed button down might be a little difficult and a sartorial contradiction but I think the button downs look better without a tie versus a straight collar; you can always have the French cuff button down custom made. Solid colored dress shirts in French Blue, Pink, or Yellow (if these colors are right for you) will bring a less dressed up look as well. Button downs just look better sans tie, especially with blazers or a sport coat; with suits however, either button down for colored shirts or straight collar for white dress shirts. . .
- winter coloring: bright white
- autumn coloring: oyster, ecru, and egg shell
- spring coloring: ivory
- summer coloring: soft muted white
will work without the tie for a more casual look (collar should be narrow or medium spread, no wide or modified spreads, they just don't look right without a tie). An angle cut 1 or 2 button cuff or a link cuff would work well too versus the French cuff. Mix it up however you wish for suits sans tie.
- An icy pink sea-island cotton button down French cuff shirt with a cashmere mink dark navy chalk stripe 2 button single breasted peak or notched lapel with a little sheen will look casually elegant indeed. Peak lapel is dressier, and very classy.
- The fact that you're not wearing a tie means casual. . .there's no reason not to be well tailored. I hate to say it but "rumpled" never sends a good message in business, but be sure to complete YOUR look with "grace" and a good measure of humility when others around you are not so educated in matters sartorial.
- A medium blue (striped or solid) sea island cotton button down French cuff with a Royal blue Prince of Wales check or Scottish check in single breasted 2 button 8oz 100% wool suit, well tailored of course.
- A Cream Colored Mongolian cashmere zip-neck Sorrento cable sweater, a must have. Wear it with a shirt and tie or over your favorite collared or crew neck shirt and a pair of warm brown vicuna wool trousers.
- Another top pick for casual elegance, are modern mini-cable polos 70% silk/30% cotton. A perfect pick to top off your tailored casual trousers paired with a favorite blazer (always with a blazer in business).
- A Shiny black leather blazer with a bright white sea island cotton French cuffed button down with flashy cufflinks and a pair of custom made indigo blue jeans with cowboy boots OR pair it with black pinstriped trousers and a icy grey crew or mock turtleneck (CASHMERE) worn over a white french cuffed shirt (or not) and a trendy pair of ferragamo's will knock everyone's socks off if you want to go "dramatic" casual one day.
Be conscious of the fact that women notice what you wear. Dress to create a curious interest and an admiring stare.
